Sante Visioni is an Italian artist based in Tokyo. He holds both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Florence, a background that informs his disciplined approach to structure, process, and execution within his artistic practice.

His work operates at the intersection of figuration and abstraction, translating emotional tension into compositions that are raw yet controlled, immediate yet deliberate. His painting process is shaped by acts of layering and subtraction, often obscuring imagery rather than revealing it progressively.

His practice originated in live painting performances within the electro-punk collective DPG, where sound, rhythm, and audience interaction played a formative role. He is also active as a music curator, continuing to develop a visual language informed by musical flow, improvisation, and collective experience.

Committed to cross-disciplinary exchange, Sante Visioni engages in collaborations, site-specific installations, and live projects that extend his practice beyond the studio into hybrid artistic contexts.

BIO

Sante Visioni’s practice explores the tension between chaos and order as a way of translating lived experience into visual form. His paintings emerge from moments of intensity and transition, processed through a balance of instinct and structure. Each work develops through confrontation, layering, and subtraction until it reaches a point of equilibrium—where the dialogue between artist and canvas naturally concludes.

Operating between figuration and abstraction, his compositions feature recurring faces, hands, and symbolic fragments that function as emotional anchors. His process resists linear revelation: images are repeatedly covered, disrupted, and reconfigured, preventing early legibility and allowing meaning to remain unstable over time.

Spontaneity plays a central role in his practice, informed by his background in live performance and his ongoing engagement with music as a music curator. Rhythm, immediacy, and flow guide the gesture, allowing visceral intensity to coexist with compositional restraint.

His work continues to expand toward intersections between painting, sound, performance, and ritual, investigating balance as a dynamic and ever-shifting condition within the contemporary landscape.
